we need u grae!
every technition down here is self taught and not very good!!

My grizz has been in for two weeks with a transmission prob!
( revs up fine but only hitting 45mph at rev limiter?? Where it was making 60+)
they told me last night all the valves need changing as its HIGH mileage at 3500??? And this would cause my probs?? Me's don't think so!
any idea grae as this looks like its gonna cost me a fortune in labour checking things that don't need checking?????
It all started the day after riding deep muddy water
please help me uncle grae the worlds finest ATV technition

How do the valves affect the forward speed? would that not be the general running that it would affect.... With you being in the water with it, and i'm assuming that the engine is running ok? I would be looking at the clutch first, checking for full movement on the clutch sheaves.... easy way to do this, SECURELY jack it up with all four wheels off the floor, take off the clutch cover, start it up and put it in gear, rev it up and down watching that your getting full movement from the clutch sheaves gripping the belt, if this is ok then i would start looking to the internal gearbox... Is your quad engine running as normal, Ie rev range, ticking over ok, or does it sound like its not getting full revs?
