It means you dont ride your quad enough

i had the same problem with my fathers 4x4, it may be the fuel filter or a blockage resricting the fuel flow.

Maybe ... but how does that explain the flashing reverse light??
WELLZY
because the way the quad acts tricks the system into thinking that it is in reverse whilst trying to go forward so flashs the reverse light?
Rob

If i could be bothered to find the thread on the Grizz forums I would tell you what it is... get hunting Ant!
grae

The flashing reverse light is a fault warning system that goes wrong quite often and just flashes for no bloody reason.... could be linked to your voltage prob, if not enough charge being made by bike, cdi will shut down and bike will die, or could just need carb cleaning out, 660 is prone to carb problem's,.....
Rob
mine flashed today, for a short while. Think its becasue I am such a pro rider, the bike was aking me to slow down so it could keep up
SATVC

Grae I think your right when I put on the new battery fully charged there was no probs!
there's still a charging prob as the battery went flat last night and the reverse light started flashing??
I've put on a new battery what is the next thing to look at as far as the charging probs concerned!

How do you mean, "you think i'm right" of course i'm right, nae doubt in my mind whatsoever...... Next up to check is wiring to and from battery, good connections and clean tight as appropriate. start engine, about half revs with the lights all ON!!!! charging rate at battery terminals should be around 13.2v or higher upto 14.4v if its lower or higher first place to look is regulator rectifier unit, see if you can swap it with someone else with same bike..... voltage going into regulator rectifier should be somewhere over 16v - 17v if voltage going in to it is low, its time to fit a new stator assembly.... £££££

There is another option Ant has got Grae, and that's to part ex the bike, whilst its still running, against a new one.

With lights on at half revs I'm getting 12.2 v
haven't tested regulater yet!!
grae
Its not charging, 12.2-12.4v is standard battery voltage. swap the regulator with a known good one if you can.....
SATVC
power going into the regulator is 7.5 v
Looks like its the stater coil!
What's a rough price for changing one of these grae just so I know I'm not geting stiched up by the company I've taken it to??

fook me they are expensive!
grae

HID, high intensity discharge.... very bright, very expensive, high voltage, they run at about 400v.... box that comes with them is a voltage invertor.
grae
Your 55w lights, is that the yamaha head lights? or do you have extra lights running on your bike? your standard stator and battery can run your headlights all day long no bother at all. if your standard lights are draining your battery and there is only 7.5v going into your regulator, then your stator is knackered or you have a wiring problem.

Blimey, look good, but they are mega money!
If I wanted to replace my 35 watt headlight bulbs with 55 watt ones, would they work ok? Cheers

No there add ons with a separate switch! not used that often??
grae
So if they aren't running that often, how are they draining the battery? or am i just being thick?

Their diagnosis doesn't really make sense???
SATVC

Exactly!!!!!!!
when i get it back im gonna have to follow the guide lines im sure the reg/rect is ok? but need to check the stator coils

The yammy dealer said when I got there to pick it up there had been a dry joint in the loom which he sorted and the 55w lights were zapping more power than the elecs were giving out!! Seems ok now been over it with the multi and everything matches mr haynes bible!
Next prob I need propper lights??? Help!!! to dangerous riding on the road at night!!! And no 10 millon pounds hid please!!!
grae
You can get a HID light kit for £99,they put less drain on your loom, and give out a fearsome amont of light.... other than that its just ordinary spotlights i think. You could try putting the new blue or white type bulbs in they do make a fair difference.
